Deer Antler Pens
|
Different woods available:
- U.S.A. hardwoods- maple burl, birdseye maple, figured maple.
- Claro (figured) walnut, English walnut.
- Cherry burl, regular cherry.
- Live oak from Texas, red oak, white oak.
- Olivewood from either Jerusalem or Bethlehem, Israel.
Pen styles:
Slimline: ballpoint twist pen taking a Cross refill. Comes with either a straight or tapered barrel. Overall diameter is good for smaller to medium sized hands.
4 choices of plating: Gold titanium, black titanium (gun metal), rhodium (platinum group of metal, silver in color), or 24 carat gold.
Comfort pen: Slightly thicker in middle than the slimline. Ballpoint twist pen using a Cross refill. Good style for larger hands.
Same four choices of plating as the slimline.
Click gel pen: Thicker overall than the slimline. Uses a Parker gel refill.
2 choices of plating: 24 carat gold and black titanium (gun metal).
Cartridge click gel pen: Uses a Parker refill.
2 choices of plating: 24 carat gold or chrome.

Truly Unique Wood Barrel Pens
I advertise pens made from hardwoods found in America, with the exception of Olivewood, which I have shipped to me from Israel. Each pen or pencil is American made, handcrafted one at a time. (See examples of the various woods available at the bottom of this page.) If you are interested in having a pen made from an exotic wood or wood you already have, please contact me.
Deer Antler Pens
Deer antler is a material that is hard and sometimes difficult to work with, but well worth the effort. It makes a beautiful pen or pencil, and no two pieces of antler are alike.
For Christmas 2008 I made antler pens for my family from the antlers of a 5 point buck that my grandpa got in 1966, the year before he passed away. Instead of collecting dust, those antlers are now heirlooms that my whole family can enjoy.
I have done other commissioned pens from antlers (or wood) harvested or owned by some of my customers. The writing instruments made from antler make a beautiful and meaningful keepsake. If you are interested in having something made from antlers that have special meaning to you, please contact me via email or telephone. The cost for these pens is higher than the antler pens on my price list. A lot of time and care go into each one, and I don't take it lightly when I am entrusted with material that has sentimental meaning to my customers.

Rifle Cartridge Pens
I am now offering pens made from actual rifle cartridges. It's quite a process to produce one, but I think the result is well worth the effort. Currently they come in both .308 and 30-06. I hope to acquire some nickel plated cartridges to offer them in silver, too. I am experimenting with other calibers to see if they will also work for pens. If you have taken a deer with either of these calibers, a pen made from your own antler and rifle case will make a memorable keepsake.
